Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain a magnetization inverting pattern with a high accuracy than the standard rotary encoder by repeating recording and reproduction mutually between two recording tracks provided with a plurality of magnetic heads.
CONSTITUTION: A magnetic film 3 is applied on the surface of the drum 2 mounted on the shaft so that the magnetic inverting signal 7 is written thereinto with the head 6. Then, the reproducing magnetic head 9 and the writing head 6 combines to generate the magnetizing inverting pattern 7 and the signals of the two devices are added to drive the transfer amplifier 10 whereby the magnetization inverting pattern 12 is written with the writing head 11 provided on the other track. Then, the magnetization inverting pattern 7 on the other track is read out on the writing head 11. The signal of the head drives the inverted transfer amplifier and the magnetization inverting pattern is written into the former track. The pattern is read out with the magnetic heads 6 and 9. In this manner, the transferring is repeated between the two tracks.
