Abstract

PURPOSE: A microorganism cultivating appliance, consisting of a container for putting a medium in and a stopper having a through hole communicating with the atmosphere in the container at its barrel, is closed airtightly before use, capable of discharging evolved gases during the cultivation of anaerobic microorganisms while the culture environment being controlled, and passing air during the culture of aerobic microorganisms.
CONSTITUTION: A microorganism cultivating medium is put in the glass cultivating container 1, the stopper 4 is set on the opening 3. The plastic cover 8 is applied to the stopper 4. The hole 10 communicating with the depression 7 is formed at the barrel 6 of the stopper 4, the annular channel 11 is made on the barrel 6 at the side end of the container. When the inner pressure of the cultivating container 1 exceeds a fixed valve, the stopper 4 is pushed up to discharge gases. When the stopper 4 is further pushed up and the channel 11 reaches the tip of the opening 3, the rubber elasticity prevents the stopper 4 from getting out of the place. The gas evolved by anaerobic cultivation is discharged through the hole 10, which serves as a ventilation hole in case of aerobic cultivation.
