Abstract

PURPOSE: To enable fire extinguishing in a short time only by a wick-lowering operation and to make the device operate effectively when a burner tumbles by using a draft which is produced without fail if there exists a burning flame.

CONSTITUTION: The aperture 2 of a wick-accommodating pipe 1 is made to be larger than the thickness of a wick 3, while an opening 4, communicating with an air chamber 5, is provided in the part of the wall of the pipe 1 a little higher in position than the upper end of the wick 3 when it is lowered. In the air chamber 5 a valve 6 allowing outside air to enter is provided, which is devised to open at the rise of the wick and shut at the lowering thereof, gearing with the up-and-down movement of the wick. When the wick is raised, the outside air flows into the air chamber 5 through the draft of a combustion pipe by the opening of the valve 6 and further into the combustion pipe through the aperture of the wick-accommodating pipe 1 and there combustion takes place, while at the lowering of the wick a burning flame consumes the oxygen in the closed air chamber 5 with the lowering, thereby the continuation of burning of oil gas in the aperture 2 being turned impossible. Since the draft is quite unnecessary at the time of fire-extinguishing operation in this way, the device works effectively at the time of tumbling as well.
