Abstract

PURPOSE: To cure a paint for a short time by a method wherein a paint coating by a zinc rich paint of an ethyl silicate type is preliminarily dried by hot air and thereafter exposed to water vapor with specific temp. and humidity or more.
CONSTITUTION: A surface to be painted is painted by a zinc rich paint blended with ethyl silicate as a vehicle and a zinc powder as a corrosion resistant pigment and, after said painted surface is dried by hot air, exposed to water vapor with temp. of 70°C or more and humidity of 90% RH or more for a short time. Thereby, the hydrolysis ratio of ethyl silicate within said paint is raised by water vapor and the curing can be promoted in a short time without forming cracks in said paint coating and, therefore, the painted material is directly subjected to next painting.
