PURPOSE: To secure the quick and accurate reply to the O2 concentration in the exhaust gas of the internal combustion engine or the like, by coating the TiO2 sintered element with glass-type frit having the specific compound of SiO2, B2O3, BaO, MgO and Al2O3 each.
CONSTITUTION: The O2 concentration detecting temperature compensation element B, which is formed by coating TiO2 sintered substance 3 with the glass layer 5 having the composition of SiO2 of 34W54mol%, B2O3 of 23W47mol%, BaO of 5W18mol%, MgO of 4.5W14mol% plus Al2O3 of 4.5W14mol% each, is used for element 2 of the detector. And element B lacking layer 5 is used for O2 concentration detection element 1 of the detector. These elements 1 and 2 are connected in series, and constant voltage EO is applied across elements 1 and 2 each. And voltage E applied to element 2 is extracted in the form of the detection signal. Thus the O2 concentration in the exhaust gas of the internal combustion engine can be detected in an assured way.
