Abstract

PURPOSE: To regenerate and to use persulfate effectively while circulating, by preliminary electrolysis of mother liquor, made by removing oxidation product from reaction liquid, in order to remove catalyst, then by electrolysis of the mother liquor.
CONSTITUTION: In oxidation of an org. compound, aqueous ammonium sulfate soln., a catalyst metallic sulfate, an org. compound having an alkyl group, aqueous ammonium persulfate soln. are charged one after another to a reaction vessel A through a material-supplying line 1. After completion of the reaction, the reaction liquid is delivered from the reaction vessel A through a conveying line 2 to an extractor B, where oxidation product is extracted. The mother liquor separated from the extracted liquid is supplyed through a supplying line 4 to a preliminary electrolytic cell C, where catalyst metal is electrolyzed without use of a diaphragm. A great portion of the mother liquor liberated from the catalyst is charged through a conveying line 7 to an electrolytic cell E, residual portion being exhausted through an exhausting line 8. The mother liquor charged to the electrolytic cell E is electrolytically oxidized by supplying sulfuric acid for making up shortage to form regenerated liquid, a great portion of which is sent through a conveying line 10, a supplying line 14 to the main reaction vessel A, a portion being sent through a supplying line 11 to a neutralizing tank d, where it is neutralized with ammonia by addition of recovered catalyst, then it is charged through a conveying line 13 to the main reaction vessel A.
