Abstract

PURPOSE: To attempt to improve the function of the subject sensor and simplify the construction thereof by arranging a platelike piezoelectric element as a vibration plate in the case main body.
CONSTITUTION: A sheet-like piezoelectric element 8A formed with the electrodes 6A and 7A by applying silver or the like on its both surfaces is placed on the annular shoulder part 3a of a case main body 3, and fixed by way of a retainer 5A, a washer 12 and a flanged part 3b. By this organization, a vibration generated in an engine is transmitted through the case main body 3 to the piezoelectric element 8A, whereupon a voltage is produced between both electrodes 6A and 7A and is derived out of a terminal through the case main body 3 and a conductive layer 13 at the inner surface of the retainer 5A. Accordingly, since the piezoelectric element 8A is directly vibrated as a vibration plate and the vibration detection is carried out, a separate vibration plate becomes unnecessary and the bonding between the piezoelectric element and the vibration plate also becomes unnecessary, and therefore insufficient detection accompanied by bonding and exfoliation is prevented.
