PURPOSE: To make it possible to run a tape at a high speed by momentarily inverting the direction of a difference in contact pressure between capstans of tape rolls when the tape running direction is inverted, by providing a self-holding solenoid which connects or disconnects a clutch disk to or from a clutch lever.
CONSTITUTION: To feed a tape to the right, a momentary current flows through self-holding solenoid 20 of pivot arm 5b to suck plunger 23, and consequently teeth 21a of clutch lever 21 engage with teeth 15a of clutch disk 15. In this state, constant load spring 17 is slightly pulled out to activate clutch disk 15 counter-clockwise, and then tape roll 11b is pushed against capstan 2.
