Abstract

The mechanism transports a flexible tape from an unwinding to a winding spool, the latter having a driving roller acting against its edge. Two slides carry the unwinding and winding spools, and are movable independently of each other to and from the latter. A frictional force is exerted on each slide by a spring mechanism resisting any tendency of the spools (23,24) to lift clear of the driving roller. As tape feed to the winding spool (24) begins, actuating mechanisms (51) briefly interrupt the force acting on the slide carrying the unwinding spool (23). The mechanisms can consist of electromagnets.
