Abstract

PURPOSE: To enhance the capacity and life for removing the vapor of aldelydes of a gas adsorbing agent obtained by adding and depositing a specified amount of hydrazines to activated carbon.
CONSTITUTION: For example, hydrazine series such as phenyl hydrazine or dinitrophenyl hydrazine is dissolved in a dilute solution of an inorg. acid e.g. hydrochloric acid, nitric acid, sulfuric acid, phosphoric acid or the like and, after activated carbon is immersed in this obtained solution, said activated carbon is degassified under vacuum to impregnate said hydrazine into fine pores of said activated carbon. Subsequently, drying treatment is carried out to add and deposit said hydrazine series. If an inorg. acid is used in case of adding and depositing hydrazine series, because hydrazine series is added and deposited to activated carbon along with said inorg. acid, not only aldehyde series can be removed by adsorption, but also a basic gas such as ammonia or the like can be effectively removed by adsorption.
