Abstract

PURPOSE: To detect cable breakage at the load side, regardless of power failure or accident at the load side, by installing breakage detecting for power board and cables connecting power board and other parts, at the power source side, and designing to operate the breakage detecting relays only when a cable is broken.
CONSTITUTION: A source side power board 5 having an electric power source 1, and a load side power board 6 having a load 3 are connected by means of a cable 2, and breakage detecting relays 4A, 4B are provided in the power board 5. These breakage detecting relays 4A, 4B are connected to the power source 1 to the mutually reverse ends through resistances 7, 7. The terminal at the resistance 7 side of the relay 4A is connected to one terminal of the load 3 through cable 2b, and the terminal at the resistance 7 side of the relay 4B is connected to the other terminal of the load 3 through cable 2c. In this constitution, when cable 2a (or 2d) is broken, the relay 4A (or 4B) is actuated to close a signal contact 4b (or 4d), so that breakage is detected. Similarly, when cable 2b or 2c is broken, it is detected by operation of relay 4A or 4B.
