Abstract

PURPOSE:To make possible the measurement of the austenite value in the steel plate even during the heat treatment process by simultaneously counting each diffraction in tensity of maximum crystal surface in the ferrite and austenite phases by the energy dispersion method and the ratio of the sums is compared with the calibrarion curve after addition. CONSTITUTION:Continuous X-rays irradiates at a fixed incident angle on the rolled steel plate 7 of mixed structure in the ferrite and austenite phases running between roles 8 and the diffracted X-rays from crystal grid faces of each phase are detected with a detector retained at a fixed angle. Then, the wave height of the electric pulse is selected with a multiple wave height analyzer 3 and the data following the analysis is inputted into the electronic computor 5. The sums T.I<alpha> and T.I<gamma>. of the intensity of the diffracted X-rays in each ferrite and austenite phase are obtained and the ratio of the sums T.I<gamma>/T.I<alpha> is compared with the calibration curve previously obtained to determine the austenite value. This enables the continuous measurement of the austenite value even in the heat treatment process.
