Abstract

PURPOSE:To enable holding a conductive layer at constant potential with a simple construction by contacting a conductive rotating object to a conductive layer exposed along the side edge of an electrostatic recording medium consisting of three layers, a dielectric layer, a conductive layer and a supporting layer. CONSTITUTION:The surface of the dielectric layer 12a of electrostatic recording paper 12 consisting of three layers, a dielectric layer 12a, a conductive layer 12b and a supporting layer 12c, is pressed to an electrostatic recording head 11 from the back by a back face roller 13. On one edge of the electrostatic recording head 11, a rotating object 14 is provided, and when the back face roller 13 presses the electrostatic recording medium 12 to the multi-needle recording electrode of the electrostatic recording head 11, the rotating object 14 is contacted to the conductive layer 12b of the electrostatic recording medium 12 by a part of this back face roller 13. As the shaft 15 of the rotating object 14 is earthed, the conductive layer 12b of the electrostatic recording medium 12 is held at the earth potential.
