Abstract

PURPOSE: To prepare a high density ethylene polymer almost free from fish eye, in high efficiency, by polymerizing ethylene, etc. under specific conditions in the presence of a catalyst system comprising a highly active titanium catalyst component containing magnesium, titanium and a halogen, and a specific organoaluminum compound catalyst component, etc.
CONSTITUTION: A (co)polymer having a density of >0.940g/cm3 and an intrinsic viscosity of ≥0.5dl/g is prepared by (co)polymerizing ethylene, etc. in homogeneous liquid phase in a hydrocarbon solvent containing 15vol% of an alicyclic hydrocarbon having a boiling point of 40W150°C, at 150W300°C at a pressure of 3W 100kg/cm2 at a polymer concentration of 80W400g/l in the presence of a catalyst system comprising (A) a highly active titanium catalyst component essentially containing magnesium, titanium and a halogen, and (B1) an organoaluminum compound catalyst component having one or more hydrocarbon groups and halogen/ aluminum (atomic ratio) of 0W1.5, or (B2) an organoaluminum compound catalyst component consisting of an organoaluminum compound having halogen/aluminum (atomic ratio) of 0W1.5 and a halogen compound of a IWVIII group element in the periodic table.
