Abstract

PURPOSE: To prepare dired fine powder of sake or pickling lees, by pulverizing them in a ball mill-type retort while drying with vacuum distillation.
CONSTITUTION: Sake or pickling lees, if necessary, after salt removal, are pulverized while being dried in a ball mill-type retort wherein balls or rolls of stainless steel, hard chrome-plated metal or ceramics and other abrasion-resistant materials, are suitably contained in a jacketed heating vacuum dryer comprising rotating agitation blades to condense and recover steam containing alcohols with a multi- stage partial condensation trap. The distillation residue is dried and pulverized in a high vacuum to give fragrant fine powder without forming residue lumps.
