Abstract

PURPOSE: To spare the fuel for a car and incrase braking force by accumulating the kinetic energy of a car at the time of application of brake in a spiral spring in a form of strain energy and release this energy at the time of acceleration.
CONSTITUTION: A shaft 8 for a spiral spring 7 is provided in parallel with the propeller shaft 6 of a car and, in a spiral spring chamber 9, are provided a compartment 10 to house the spiral spring 7 and a bearing part 11, where the spiral spring shaft 8 is fit rotatably. Between a periphery 11A of the bearing part 11 and a machine frame 3A, a one-way clutch 12 is interposed, so that the spiral spring 7 can be wound up with rotation of the case 9. An output rotor 14, composed of a gear 14A fixed on the spiral spring shaft 8, intermediate gears 14BC, 14DE, a gear 14 fitted loosely on the propeller shaft 6 and a brake disc 14G, accelerates rotation of the spiral spring shaft 8 and thereby transmits the torque to the propeller shaft 6 through an output transmitting element 16.
