Abstract
PURPOSE: To obtain easily a read signal with a small noise by displacing the light axis of a reflected light by arranging a double image prism and 1/4-wavelength plate on the light axis and then by converting the light into an electric signal direct by a photo detector.
CONSTITUTION: One optical unit serves as two optical systems; one system focuses a laser beam emitted from semiconductor laser 1 on the small light spot and then lead it to information recording medium 5, and the other focuses a reflected beam from recording medium 5 and leads it to photo detector 6. On the light axis of the optical system, double image prism 9 is provided and 1/4-wavelength plate 8 is arranged at the recording medium 5 to deviate the light axis of the reflected light from the light axis of the laser beam, thereby converting the reflected light into an electric signal by detector 6. The reflected light is converted direct to recording information signal not making use of self-coupling effect of the semi-conductor laser, so that a read signal with a small noise can be obtained.
