PURPOSE: To provide a title glass being suitable for a panel such as a cathode-ray tube of a color television and having high X-ray shielding property, comprising a composition wherein SiO2, Al2O3, MgO, CaO, SrO, BaO, ZrO2 or the like are present in a specific ratio and PbO, As2O3, and Sb2O3 are present below a specific %.
CONSTITUTION: An objective glass for a cathode-ray tube is obtained by compounding PbO, As2O3 and Sb2O3 each in an amount of 0.03% or less to a composition comprising, based on the wt%, SiO2; 50W65%, Al2O3; 0W3%, MgO; 0W6%, CaO; 0W6%, SrO; 0W10%, BaO; 0W16%, ZrO; 5W15%, Li2O; 0W3%, Na2O; 5W16%, K2O; 0W10% TiO2; 0W1%, C2O2; 0.1W1.6%, SiO2+Al2O3+ZrO2: 60W75%, MgO+CaO≤6%, 1/2 BaO+SrO+ZrO2≥15% and Li2O+Na2O+K2O; 13W20%.
