Abstract
PURPOSE:To save the cost of producing capsules and considerably improve the yield of products by packing the powder material to be treated in the case made of gas impermeable material, hermetically plugging and closing its opening part without performing deaeration and subjecting the same to hot hydrostatic pressing. CONSTITUTION:The flange part 6 of a cover body 3 having a flange part 6 which is bent upward at the outside circumferential end and provided with a gas vent hole 7 protruding in tubular form at the approximate center is mounted so as to fit into the body 1 packed with the powder 2 to be treated. Next, the top end of the body 1 and the top end of the flange part 6 are secured by circumferential welding 4. Next, a suitable plug 8 is inserted into the hole 7 and the top end of the hole 7 and plug 8 are integrally welded 8 by a welding machine 5 to complete the hermetic sealing of the body 1. After this the body 1 is subjected to hot hydrostatic pressing in a high- temperature high-pressure gas atmosphere to press and sinter the packed powder material such as metals or ceramics. Thereby, the case breakdown owing to the concentrated stress acting upon the weld zone is made obsolete and the yield of the products is considerably improved.
