PURPOSE:To stabilize the commutation and to shorten the acceleration time by providing the first and second position sensors in a motor using the first position sensor from the start to the specified speed, and using the second position sensor at the specified speed and higher speed. CONSTITUTION:A position sensor 151 whose set and control angle is 0 deg. and a position sensor 152 whose set and control angle is 45 deg. are provided in a motor 14 which is connected to a power rectifier 11 and a power inverter 13. From the start to the time t1, the thyristor of a power inverter 13 is commutated by the sensor 151 and a comparating detector 22. When the time t1 is reached, the lead angle of the signal from the comparating detector 22 is logically advanced to 60 deg. by the signal from a speed sensor 21. Then, at the time t2, the signal from the sensor 152 is selected by a selector 24, and the acceleration is made. Therefore, the accelerating time is expedited, a sufficient reverse current is applied to the thyristors, and the stable commutation can be accomplished.
