Abstract

PURPOSE:To prevent error information due to software from being stored by reading, checking, correcting and rewriting the contents of all MOS dynamic memory elements within a certain time. CONSTITUTION:On arrival of an external refresh request, timing generating circuit 1 outputs a series of timing signals 1A-1D. At timing 1A, refresh counter 2 outputs refresh addresses RA3A and RA3B of low-order bits and high-order bits. At timing 1B, decoder 4 outputs refresh memory address RMA5A and check memory address CMA5B. At timing 1C, refresh bit group RM6A in memory matrix 6 is selected on the basis of RMA5A and then refleshed. Then, CMA5B selects check bit group CM6B in RM6A. From CM6B, read data 7 are output and at timing 1D, error information detecting-correcting circuit 9 outputs rewrite data 8B to CM6B.
