Abstract

PURPOSE: To easily change set measuring dimensions and thereby improve the controllability of an air micrometer, by memorizing as a linear equation the nozzle back pressure variation characteristics between two points set by upper and lower limit masters.
CONSTITUTION: A microcomputer 19 is adapted to memorize nozzle back pressure variation characteristics, represented by a linear equation, between two points set by two masters, and convert a signal representative of a measured back pressure of a nozzle 13, which is used to measure an object 15, into dimensions corresponding thereto. A point S1 is determined on the basis of a nozzle back pressure P1 during the measurement of the upper limit master and the dimensions L1 of the upper limit master. A point S2 is determined on the basis of a nozzle back pressure P2 during the measurement of the lower limit master and the dimensions L2 of the lower limit master. An equation for a straight line connecting the points S1, S2 is set up and memorized. Measured dimensions Lx with respect to a signal Px representative of a measured nozzle back pressure are then calculated.
