Abstract
PURPOSE: To effect a completely oilless drive by a method wherein the surface of title parts such as a rotor and pinion are electrolytically treated with Cr diffusion plating liquid of specific composition to form metal diffusion layer having sponge or porous voids, which voids are electrodeposited with soft metal (salt) of Pd, Cd, Au, etc.
CONSTITUTION: The surface of the titled parts such as the rotor and pinion are electrolytically treated using a low temperature Cr diffusion plating liquid including essential component of chromic acid, Ba salt such as Ba(NO3)2, and organic acid catalyst such as acetic acid. This forms sponge or porous chromium oxide layer 1 having voids 2. These voids 2 are electrodeposited with soft metal such as Pb, Cd, Au, Ag, In, Sn, etc. or metal salt contg. solid lubricant such as (CF)n, MoS2, BN, etc. to form lubricating coating layer 3. The process provides complete oilless operation, long period of lubricating capability being maintained, and enhances the machine precision and durability.
