Abstract

PURPOSE: To prevent the production of moires and achieve higher tone reproducibility of originals and higher working efficiency by performing halftone gravure engraving by the specific method through the use of a halftone positive and a continuous tone positive for lithography or letterpress.
CONSTITUTION: Transparent phtographic material 2 (silver salt type film, etc.) and continuous tone positive 3 are superposed on photographic material 1 (carbon tissue, etc.) and light is radiated from the positive 3 side. Next, developing the material 2 yields a continuous tone negative 5. This negative 5 is superposed on the photographic material 1 by way of a gravure screen 4 and is radiated from the negative 5 side. Next, a halftone positive 6 for lithography or letterpress is printed on the photosensitive layer side of the photographic material 1. The photographic material 1 made in this way is used for the process of obtaining gravure plates by ordinary methods.
