Abstract
PURPOSE:To lessen a separation loss by reducing spacing between a gap and tape by forming the sliding surface of a head so that its magnetic-tape incoming side will be at a more protrusive point than the tape outgoing side. CONSTITUTION:The width of head core half 1b of head chip 1 of a rotary magnetic head for a video tape recorder is less than that of core half 1a and sliding surface 3 is formed into a circumferential shape of the same radius R. Then, R center 8 is positioned on the extended line of core junction part 2 and formed on the incoming side of tape 5 to chip center 9 which is the center of head 1. When viewed in the direction of center 9 which is rotation direction of head 1, the incoming-side sliding surface of tape 5 is protruded more than the outgoing-side sliding surface. As a result, the floating force of tape 5 on the incoming side becomes less than the suction force on the outgoing side and the spacing between the tape and head is reduced at gap 4, improving reproduction efficiency.
