Abstract

PURPOSE: To enlarge the condition range for providing good transfer performances by radiating light to a photoreceptor simultaneously with transfer or prior to the same thereby reducing its charges.
CONSTITUTION: Light is radiated to a photoreceptor 1 through the window 8'a provided to the shielding case of a corona charger 8'. Copying paper 4 is charged by the corona discharge by the chargers 8, 8' and attracts toners from the photoreceptor 1, whereby transfer is accomplished. At the same instant of the transfer or prior to this, the light from a light source 17 is radiated to the photoreceptor 1 and therefore the charges of the photoreceptor 1 are reduced and the photoreceptor 1 advances to the separating part while the attraction force that it acts upon the toners is held reduced. In the separating part, the paper 4 approaches to an endless belt 14, to which its charges are absorbed. Hence, the occurrence of reverse transfer is obviated and the good rate of transfer is maintained.
