Abstract
PURPOSE:To suppress the corrosion of a copper winding caused by cooling water, by adsorbing benzotriazole to an ion exchange resin in a cooling water system so as to maintain the concentration of benzotriazole in pure water in excess of a predetermined level. CONSTITUTION:In a cooling system, in which a generator 1 is cooled by supplying pure water from a pure water tank 2 into a hollow copper winding in the generator 1 via a pump 3 and a cooler 4, a part of circulation water, to which a predetermined concentration of benzotriazole has been added, is introduced into an ion exchange resin tower 5 so as to adsorb the benzotriazole to an ion exchange resin in the tower 5. The rate of adsorption of the benzotriazole is set at such a level that allows the concentration thereof in the pure water can be maintained at not less than 0.5ppm. Consequently, the corrosion of the copper winding can be suppressed. Even when the concentration of benzotriazole in the pure water is decreased, the benzotriazole in the ion exchange resin flows out to maintain the concentration thereof in the pure water at a constant level.
