Abstract

PURPOSE: To enable the accurate maintaining of a fixed distance despite the presence of undulation on the work by mounting a distance detector to the end of a working head in the laser working apparatus.
CONSTITUTION: A distance detector 8 with its central part being formed into ring form so as to become a laser beam transmission hole 8a is mounted to the end of a working head 7, coaxially to the laser beam axis. The laser beam transmission hole 8a also serves as a flow path of the gas 5 used for working. The distance is detected by making use of the change that the pressure of the gas 5 passing therethrough makes according to the distance from the work 4. In measurement, the center of the laser beam 1, that is, the position of a focus 3 becomes the target of detection. Because of this, the distance from the work 4 is measured with good accuracy in the position closest to the focus 3. Based on this detection signal, the controlling of a motor 10, that is, the controlling of the vertical movement of the working head 7, is accomplished, thus the working conditions become constant.
