Abstract
PURPOSE:To prevent excessive thermal stress from appearing around support sections of a tank by constituting a supporting apparatus for the tank such that support members mounted in fixed relationship with the tank can be freely slid in horizontal directions in a plane of a top plate of a support bar mounted on a hull. CONSTITUTION:Support bars 4 mounted uprightly in a hold C in integral relationship with a hull member B of a hull A have each a top plate 5 joined with a corresponding support member 2 and receive the entire load of a spherical tank by way of the support members 2. The support member 2 and the top plate 5 of the support bar 4 are joined with each other within a horizontal plane and allows free sliding movement of the support member in horizontal radial directions in response to thermal contraction of a tank body 1 whereas movement of the hull or the like is prevented due to the face that part of a horizontally extending edge 6 is loosely fitted between fitting members. Thus, if the tank body should be subject to thermal contraction, there appears no excessive thermal stress around support sections of the tank.
