Abstract

PURPOSE: To provide the title carrier having improved adsorptivity and containing a binder integrated with coarse particles, by compounding an adsorbent to keep an insecticide, coarse particles to facilitate the vaporization of the insecticide and an inorganic binder to unify the above components.
CONSTITUTION: An insecticidal fumigant for the extermination of cockroach, mosquitoes, etc. is prepared by impregnating a heat-evaporating insecticide such as pyrethrin to a carrier composition composed of (A) an adsorbent such as activated charcoal to keep the insecticide, (B) coarse particles such as diatomaceous earth to facilitate the evaporation of the insecticide, and (C) an inorganic binder to bind the above two components, e.g. low-melting glass. The insecticidal composition thus prepared has improved adsorptivity for the insecticide, contains a porous carrier, prevents the bleeding of the insecticide during the storage of the composition, and facilitates the heat-vaporization of the insecticide. It withstands high temperature up to 400°C. Since there is no catalytic activity in the composition to promote the heat-decomposition of the insecticide during the heat-evaporation, the insecticidal efficiency of the insecticide can be improved.
