Abstract

PURPOSE:To manufacture maraging steel of high strength and high ductility, by the heat treatment, cold rolling, solution treatment, cold treatment, aging of steel having a specific composition, including Ni, Co, under respectively specified conditions. CONSTITUTION:Steel, composed of, by wt., 16-19% Ni, 12-15% Co, 5.8-6.5% Mo, 1.6-2% Ti, the balance being Fe and impurities including <=0.2% Al, <= 0.2% Mn, <=0.01% P and S respectively, and <=0.03% the sum of C+N, is subjected to the heat treatment for forming solid solution of unmelted phase, to cold rolling at a reduction of area not smaller than 25%, to solid solution process at a temp. 900-975 deg.C, to cold rolling at a reduction of area 55-75%, to aging at a temp. 490-530 deg.C, whereby maraging steel having strength not smaller than about 200kg/mm.<2>, and ductility sufficient as structural material is manufactured.
