Abstract

PURPOSE:To accurately detect the cutout at a tablet by irradiating the back surface of a light transmission film filled with tablets with a light to focus the image of the tablets on an image sensor of a stationary camera and detecting the length of the lateral cross sectional line of each of the tablets. CONSTITUTION:A light source lamp 2 for simultaneously irradiating the entire lateral direction of a film 1 is installed under the film 1, the projected image of tablets T formed upon irradiation of the tablets T from the lamp 2 is projected on image sensors 32 arranged at their scanning points in a linear one-dimensional matrix state, and outputted as an electric signal from a stationary camera 3. Then, the image is scanned by the image sensor 32, which outputs a scanning output corresponding to the lateral cross sectional length of the image, and the output is stored in a memory 5. The detected outputs thus stored and regarding the respective tablets are applied to a comparator 6 as they are and compared with a preset standard value, and judged as having a cutout when there is more than predetermined difference therebetween.
