Abstract

PURPOSE: To give the magnetic gap of high reliability and lamination effect to the magnetic head, by providing one or a plurality of grooves or cavities with the part excluding the vicinity of the magnetic gap of the magnetic substance core constituting the magnetic circuit.
CONSTITUTION: The grooves 8a, 8b are cut off on the two magnetic substance cores 6a, 6b from the head sides 7a, 7b respectively. The part near the magnetic gap 2 of the cores 6a, 6b is kept the same as bulk core. Thus, the gap forming technique such as the sputtering or metal deposition having high reliability can be used. On the other hand, the surface area is increased for the other part with the grooves 8a, 8b. Since the path of magnetic flux due to eddy current loss is limited around the core surface, this increase in the surface area means the increase in the effective cross sectional area through which magnetic flux can flow, allowing to avoid the eddy current loss at high frequencies and heat dissipation due to it, resulting in increasing the recording and reproducing efficiency.
