Abstract

PURPOSE: To reduce mixing of P and recover Ni, etc. from roasted Ni plating sludge in a high yield by kneading the sludge with coke breeze and calcium chloride followed by lump making, drying, roasting, crushing and magnetic separation.
CONSTITUTION: To preroasted Ni plating sludge are added coke in an amount enough to reduce oxide in the sludge and CaCl2.2H2O in an amount required to react with the contained Ni, and they are kneaded, formed into lumps, and dried. The dried lumps are then roasted at about 1000°C for about 90min in a rotary electric furnace or the like, crushed, and fed to a magnetic separator to collect magnetically separated substance C1. The nonattracted substance is further separated into attracted substance C2 and nonattracted substance T with a high-power magnetic separator. Substance C1 contains little P mixed. Thus, Ni and other valuable metal can be recovered in a high recovering rate.
