Abstract
PURPOSE: To expand the terminal end of a long-length pipe material to an arbitrary shape with small working force by closely contacting the upper and lower segmental dies formed with die surfaces in the inside surfaces by leaving both sides to the outside circumference of the terminal end part of the pipe material then leading pressure liquid into the hermetic spacing of the intended molding part.
CONSTITUTION: In molding the terminal end of a pipe material A, upper and lower segmental dies 1, 1' are beforehand suitably spaced and the pipe material A is fed forward by the feed rolls, etc. not illustrated to insert the terminal end part (a) into the both dies. Before or after this insertion, a liquid pressure applying means 3 is inserted from the terminal machine (a). Next, the both dies are operated by a die clamping cylinder 2 to clamp the dies so that the both side contact surfaces 16, 16' of the die surfaces 15, 15' make close contact with the outside circumferential surface of the terminal part (a). In this state, the sealing material 10, 11 of the means 3 are compressed from the side face to be compresed and expanded in the radial direction, so that the respective end faces are closely contacted with the inside circumferential surfaces opposing to the contact surfaces 16, 16'. Next, liquid pressure is fed through conduit 13 into the ring-form hermetic spacing 17 having been formed and is force-fed into the spacing 17 from between the sealing materials 10, 11. Thereby, the pipe material A is force-pressed in the radial direction and the expanded part a' of the desired shape is formed.
