Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain the title salt having a high Al2O3 concn. and high filterability by partially neutralizing an acidic substance composed of Al compounds and an alkaline substance in an amount corresponding to less than the equivalent in a liq. phase while specifying the total amount of the Al compounds and the temp. and by redissolving the resulting alumina gel at a resticted temp.
CONSTITUTION: An acidic substance composed of Al compounds such as AlCl3 and an alkaline substance such as Na2CO3 in an amount corresponding to less than the equivalent are partially neutralized in a liq. phase while adjusting the concn. of all of the Al compounds to 5% or more as Al2O3 and the temp. to below 20°C to form alumina gel. The reaction system is then heated to about 40W100°C to redissolve the gel. By this method crystallization of alumina gel is controlled to give acid-soluble alumina gel, and a product contg. little undissolved dispersed alumina gal and represented by the formula is obtd. This product is used as a flocculant for water treatment, etc.
