Abstract

PURPOSE:To change incombustible substances efficiently into fused slag, reduce the waste in quantity and make it into harmless material by a method wherein a furnace side wall extending with inclination angles of 40-50 deg. down to the furnace bottom is provided on the side of a supplying hole of the waste material equipped on the upper part of the furnace and holes for combustion air is provided on the upper parts of the furnace side walls. CONSTITUTION:A furnace side wall 5 on the side of a waste material supply device 3 provides inclination angles of 40-50 deg. and extends down to a slag tank 6. Waste material supplied into the furnace slides on or turns round the side wall surface 5 of the furnace and comes in contact with the heated air introduced from an air supply hole 9 for combustion and the combustible components burn and part of the incombustible components are fused. The fused residuum flows into the slag bed, heated again, fused and fluidized. The fluidized slag passes through the notch 7a formed in a weir 7, overflows from a notch 8, falls into a sealed water tank 14, granulates and is discharged. Similarly, the unfused part is checked by the weir 7, heated, fused and discharged through the notch 7a.
