Abstract

PURPOSE: To enable automatic shutting-off of a passage and facilitate pipe connection work or the like, by providing a ball valve and a force applying member in a valve casing an using the force applying member to forcibly thrust the ball valve into contact with a valve seat to stop the flow of a fluid.
CONSTITUTION: A valve device is applied to the pipe connection of a split type air conditioner. When pipes 19, 20 are removed from low-pressure valve units 17, 18 in the displacement or shipment of the air conditioner, the flowing-out of a coolant through an outlet port 23 is prevented because each ball valve 26 moves due to its own gravity and the flowing pressure of the coolant and comes into contact with a valve seat 25 to close a passage 24. When the pipes 19, 20 are connected to the valve units 17, 18 in installation and a compressor 14 is driven, coolant gas is introduced into the passage 24 of the valve casing of each valve unit and the ball valve 26 is separated from the valve seat 25 against a spring 31 to open the passage 24. The spring 31 is supported between the guiding parts 29 of a stopper guide 27.
