Abstract

PURPOSE: Title soil material which is capable of adsorbing fertilizers and exhibits stable fertilization effects for a long time, comprising a porous particulate material prepared by grinding a hearth waste consisting mainly of surpentine and screening the product to obtain a desired particle size.
CONSTITUTION: A hearth waste consisting mainly of surpentine is ground and classified to produce a particulate product at least about 50% of which has a particle diameter not greater than about 3mm. The particulate product is utilized as a fertilizer. As compared with raw surpentine, the soil material is richer in MnO, MgO, Al2O3, CaO, K, Na, SiO2 and iron. The soil material by itself has a fertilization effect, but it can be converted into a more suitable soil material by treating it with an aqueous fertilizer solution and then drying. By this treatment the fertilizer is adsorbed in the porous particulate material.
