Abstract

PURPOSE: To enable a large amount of powders having a large particle diameter to be obtained by inhibiting the formation of powders having a small particle diameter, by a method wherein a small amount of formaldehyde is used and reacted in the production of title powder useful as delayed release fertilizer.
CONSTITUTION: A 4C satd. aliph. aldehyde (e.g. isobutyraldehyde) in an amount of not less than 0.4-fold moles of urea and formaldehyde in an amount of 0.03W 0.25-fold moles of urea and of 0.07W0.5-fold moles of the 4C aldehyde, are reacted with solid urea in the presence of an inorg. acid (e.g. sulfuric acid). Urea is continuously supplied from a reservoir 5 via a volumetric feeder 6 to the hopper 4 of a reactor 1. The inorg. acid, formaldehyde and 4C-aldehyde are sprayed from reservoirs 7, 10, 13 on urea by means of dispersion pipes 9, 12, 15. The reaction is carried out with stirring within the reactor 1 by using a stirrer 3. Vapor generated is passed through a pipe 16, liquefied by means of a condenser 17 and fed to the reservoir 13. Product is passed through a discharging means 18 and sifted by a sieve 20.
