Abstract

PURPOSE:To generate white, black and red codes by a white black two valued facsimile redundancy suppressive encoder, by adding a function by which red is encoded by either white or black. CONSTITUTION:A status discrimination circuit 10, a changeover circuit 3, a control logical circuit 12 and a red, black, white status display circuit 11 are added to that which encodes a facsimile signal from the transmission side interface circuit 1 by a run-length counter 2, a white black run-length changeover circuit 3 and run-length generators 4, 5. In case of white black binary encoding, the changeover circuit 3 is changed alternately in accordance with the rule by which white and black appear alternately. In case of red encoding, a flag displaying red, a code showing which has been used between white run-length and black run-length, and its run length code are transmitted. Thus, three valued encoding can be performed by use of a two valued encoder.
