Abstract

CONSTITUTION: A target being composed of palladium oxide and platinum is compositely spattered on a valve metal base body with conductivity in an inert gas atmosphere containing approximate 5W70 volume % of oxygen according to a compound spattering method, etc. If the target is formed by a mixture of palladium oxide powder and platinum, the composition of coating is obtained which is approximately equal to the composition of the target. Coating made up according to this method consists of palladium oxide particles and platinum metal filling among the particles, there exist no palladium-platinum alloy, remarkable segregation, etc., and coating with uniform microstructure is obtained.
