Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain thick molded products of foamable styrol of a uniform quality by applying dry steam of a low pressure and a low temperature to starting beads packed in a mold, and heating both surfaces of the beads with saturated steam of a high pressure and a high temperature. CONSTITUTION:A boiler 13 for supplying dry steam of a low pressure and a low temperature into a mold consisting of a female mold 1 and a male mold 2, and a boiler 6 for supplying saturated steam of a high pressure and a high temperature into the mold are provided outside thereof. These boilers 13, 6 are connected to and communicated with the mold via valves 10, 11, 16. A predetermined amount of starting beads of foamable styrol are placed in the mold, and dry steam of a low temperature of not more than about 90 deg.C and a low pressure of about 0.5-0.6kg/ cm<2> is introduced from the boiler 13 into a cavity 3. Consequently, the beads are fused entirely. The superficial portion and core portion of the material are foamed uniformly, and wet air among the beads is forced out to the outside of the mold owing to the dry steam introduced thereinto. The boiler 13 is then switched to the boiler 6 to introduced saturated steam of a high temperature and a high pressure into the mold and heat therewith both surface of the material. Thus, a finishing fusing of a foamed product is carried out.
