Abstract
PURPOSE: To improve reliability of a cooling water fluid pump of a blast furnace or the similar in an emergency by connecting the pump to a flywheel which is rotated by an engine linked to a motor or a clutch.
CONSTITUTION: When a motor 1 cannot drive a pump 2 due to an interruption of power supply or other reasons, energy accumulated in a flywheel 3 during normal operation is released to go on driving the pump 2. On power failure, a solenoid valve 8 works to open a main pipe 14, which allows operating oil to run from an oil pump 7 through a pressure regulating valve 9 for working a clutch 4. After a few seconds passed from start of the clutch 4, the flywheel 3 has the engine 5 ignite and run. It is not until energy off from the flywheel 3 is boosted enough to the level required for driving the pump 2 that the engine 5 is loaded. This provides smooth starting and operation of the pump.
