Abstract

PURPOSE:To continuously and surely detect fluoride gas by contact-circulating the fluid to be inspected whose flow rate is previously measured through the substance whose light transmissivity varies as the reaction with fluoride gas proceeds to detect the quantity of transmitted light. CONSTITUTION:In a UF6 handling equipment, the gas leaking out into the atmosphere changes into HF gas, which, together with the air, is inhaled as a fluid to be inspected 12 into a passage 1 by a suction-exhaust pump 2. The suction flow-rate, which is regulated to be constant by a flow-rate controlling valve 3, is measured by a flow meter 4. The fluid to be inspected passing through the passage 1 circulates through the space between each layer of a light-transmission substance 5, and reaches the pump 2. In the process, HF gas contained in the fluid to be inspected contacts the light-transmission substance 5, and reacts, so that the surface of the passage becomes cloudy, to which light of a fixed wave-length is applied from a light source 6. The transmitted light is received by a light detector 7, which delivers an output corresponding to the quantity of detection. The output is compared with that from a reference-output generator 10, and the concentration value is displayed in an indicator 11.
