Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain a cleaner as well as to utilize effectively aluminum sludge and also prevent the occurence of pollution by the procedure in which waste water discharged from the acid or alkali treatment of aluminum is neutralized and by-product aluminum sludge is heated to form granular aluminum.
CONSTITUTION: In the anodic oxidation of aluminum or aluminum alloy product, waste washing water discharged from acid or alkali treatment is niutralized and then by-product aluminum sludge formed is filtered and dried. Then, the dried sludge is heated to 800°C or more to form granular aluminum 0.5W5mm in diameter. Said sludge, which is aluminum hydroxide, is easily converted into aluminum oxide when baked and also the dried sludge is easily converted into porous aluminum oxide when heated further, and thus an effective cleaner can be manufactured.
