Abstract

PURPOSE:The device which comprises forming the top, bottom and both side faces of the mold by the endless belts moving in the cast ingot advancing direction and disposing the fixing support means provided with water-cooling jackets on the outside surfaces of the both side face belts and continuously producing the cast ingot free from hair cracks. CONSTITUTION:While the endless belts 1, 2 forming the top and bottom surfaces of the mold and the endless belts 9, 10 forming the both side faces are being moved in the advancing direction of a cast ingot 8 simultaneously at an equal speed, molten metal 7 is continuously poured through the feed port and cooling water is flowed into the cooling-water jackets 17, 18 provided to the fixing support means 15, 16 of the both side face belts through lead-in pipes 15a, 16a and discharge pipes 15b, 16b. Since this mold has no seams unlike with conventional caterpillar block type devicesm there is no possibility for producing seam flashes and the cast ingot free from hair cracks is formed.
