Abstract

PURPOSE: To simplify the removal treatment process for fluorine as well as save the cost of raw materials by the procedure in which a Ca salt is added to a fluorine- containing mixed waste water and then solid phase formed is separated.
CONSTITUTION: A Ca salt, e.g., Ca(OH)2, etc., is added to a fluorine-containing mixed waste water obtained by mixing a waste water containing an aluminum fluoride, e.g., AlF3, etc., with an alkali fluoride, e.g., NaF, etc., to cause them to react with each other at ordinary temperature for approx. 10min or the more, usually 30W60min. If the pH of the waste water after the reaction is 5.8W8.6, neutralization using a mineral acid is not requried. Then, solid, e.g., CaF2, etc., formed by the reaction is separated to remove the fluorine content from the fluorine-containing waste water.
