Abstract
PURPOSE: To separate and recover valuable metals or iron economically, by reducing iron ions or iron chloride complex, extracted with an org. solvent contg. a specific org. extractant, with a reducing material, then by bringing the extractant into contact with an aq. acidic soln.
CONSTITUTION: In peeling iron ions or iron chloride complex extracted with an org. solvent made by diluting alkyl phosphoric acid, phosphate, oxime, or from primary to quaternary amine with petroleum hydrocarbon, reducing gas, e.g., H2, H2S, etc. or aq. reducing soln. contg. sulfite, chlorite, hydrazine etc. is added to the org. solvent pahse to convert the valency of the iron, then org. solvent phase is treated with water, or aq. soln. of mineral acid or org. acid so as to peel iron and regenerate the org. solvent, which is circulated to the extraction process. This method is very economical because it forms no sludge and consumes less energy.
