Abstract

PURPOSE:To provide the matrix of a large capacity by using a switching matrix of 8 inputs X 8 outputs as a unit block and constituting the multistage change-over matrix of the same techniques as those of the switcher constitution system of telephone exchanges by using these unit matrixes. CONSTITUTION:The light signal distributors D1-D8 provided to the input side of the matrix branch the light signals inputted from the outside through optical fibers 1 and output the same light signals to the 8 fibers connected thereto. The outputs from the light signal distributors D1-D8 are inputted, one by one, to the 8 lgith beam selection change-over elements R1-R8 respectively. The selection change- over elements R1-R8 selectively receive one light signal out of these 8 inputs and send this signal as output to the outside. By constituting the multistage switching matrix with the switching matrixes of 8 inputs X 8 outputs as unit blocks, the switching matrix of a large capacity for optical communication may be constituted.
